The range of new models includes NODE 2i ($999), POWERNODE 2i ($1,549), VAULT 2i ($1999), PULSE 2i ($1,599), PULSE MINI 2i ($999), PULSE FLEX 2i ($699), and PULSE SOUNDBAR 2i ($1699 Black, $1799 White).

Gen 2i brings with it dual-band WiFi, Apple Airplay 2 support (coming soon via update), upgraded Bluetooth codecs, and a series of improved amplification and acoustic upgrades across the range.

Built upon the improved and newly released BluOS 3.0 platform which is a music management system that connects, organises, and controls your music, the smart and intuitive app allows simple control of all multi-room zones from a smartphone, tablet or laptop.

From today, BluOS users will receive a prompt to update their app which will bring new music services, as well as Amazon Alexa voice integration. BluOS 3.0 also enables necessary functionality improvements including two-way Bluetooth with aptX HD and enhanced EQ settings.

Ever since Bluesound’s exciting debut five years ago, we have listened to the marketplace and worked hard to make significant improvements throughout the line.

Gen 2i represents another leap forward with major technological enhancements that make this generation of Bluesound products even more compelling. Best of all, Gen 2i is compatible with existing Bluesound systems.

Apple AirPlay 2 will enable Bluesound users to stream just about any sound from their iPhone, iPad, or Mac to their Bluesound system, all in sync. For example, you can watch videos on an Apple device while streaming the audio through a Bluesound Gen 2i product.

AirPlay 2 will also bring Siri voice control to the Bluesound platform. You could name a Gen 2i player 'Kitchen' via the Home App, and then speak a command such as, “Hey Siri, play smooth jazz in the kitchen”.

Apple Airplay 2 is not available at the time of writing but is said to become available in an upcoming software update.

The new Gen 2i products also feature Qualcomm's CSR8675 chip which brings with it aptX HD Bluetooth wireless audio compatibility. What this means is that you can now stream audio at up to 24bit/48kHz resolution from an aptX HD compatible source.

Finally, new custom designed digital amplifiers have doubled the available power in PULSE 2i and PULSE MINI 2i. Bluesound says this has resulted in “improved bass response and more powerful sonic soundscapes.”

Moreover, PULSE 2i, PULSE MINI 2i and PULSE FLEX 2i feature new driver configurations, which Bluesound added:

One of the stars of the Bluesound product lineup is the PULSE SOUNDBAR, which for Generation 2i sees the addition of HDMI connectivity (ARC and eARC).
