You've likely heard of VAF Research for their world-renowned loudspeakers. What you probably didn't know is that there is more to their Adelaide showroom than just sound. They're a true AV specialist outlet with the world's leading brands on display.
VAF's state-of-the-art showrooms this week will feature Sony’s top-of-the range VPL-HW5000es projector hooked up to breathtaking VAF speakers.
Dubbed the world’s most advanced 4K projector, the Sony VPL-VW5000ES contains dual laser light sources that deliver 20,000 hours of lamp life with as much as 5000 lumens of brightness at a screen resolution of 4096 by 2160 pixels.
If $90,000 pushes your pocket too far, VAF will also debut Sony’s 65Z9D 65-inch flat screen TV (RRP $6500) - rated as the best for 2016 by Forbes journal - and the $16,000 Sony VPL-HW550 4K projector.
VAF Research has been designing and building high fidelity loudspeakers of breathtaking clarity since 1978. Owned by Philip Vafiadis and Simon Hackett, the company provides a comprehensive range of affordable premium audio-visual systems with Sony projectors costing from $4299 and VAF surround sound speaker packages for less than $3000.
VAF Research General Manager Simon Wilde told StereoNET:
The Sony event is designed to show customers the future of home entertainment. This is the first time these three new Sony products will be seen together in Australia. It's also a great opportunity to introduce local Adelaide customers to the full audio visual services and products that VAF Research specialise in. Our own loudspeakers are well regarded around the globe, but we're also proud of the partner brands in electronics that we use and sell.
With dedicated purpose-built theatres, showrooms and audio spaces, VAF can demonstrate an array of products designed for different applications and customer's needs.
VAF Research also designed the innovative and world's first Soundwall. Flat panels that attach to the wall with immersive sound. Soundwall has regularly featured on The Block TV show over the last few years.
VAF will demonstrate the Sony equipment and VAF speakers at its 52 North Terrace, Kent Town, showroom from until Friday, December 2.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
